Amy Martin, MA, ELS, is Senior Director of Medical Writing, Editing, and Design Services at RTI-HS, where she leads a team of medical writers, editors, and graphic designers and oversees the deliverable editing process for the organization's nine research groups. She has over 20 years of experience as an editor in professional and academic environments and has earned a certificate in medical editing from the American Medical Writers Association. Ms. Martin provides editorial support for RTI-HS deliverables and proposals, as well as project management support for projects with large editorial components, most notably a journal supplement that included five manuscripts and 16 authors. Ms. Martin led the editing group in developing guidelines for RTI-HS project managers on how to work most efficiently with editors at each stage of a deliverable and presents the procedures to RTI- HS project managers and new employees. Ms. Martin developed the production process for RTI-HS scientific posters, outlining the processes for editing, client review, design, printing, mailing, and delivery, to ensure that posters are delivered on time all over the world. Prior to joining RTI-HS, Ms. Martin served as the Director of Communications for the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she oversaw the development of marketing materials, including newsletters, advertising, press releases, posters, and web content, and wrote and edited the department's annual report. In addition to a strong technical writing and science publications background, she has extensive experience in fundraising and event planning.
