Will Herring, PhD, is a Director of Health Economics at RTI-HS and provides a strong interest and extensive background in mathematical modeling and decision analysis across the health care system. Since joining RTI-HS, he has developed an expertise in cost-effectiveness and value-based pricing modeling, and his models have been used to inform strategic decisions during the development of new health technologies and to support submissions to health care payers and regulatory agencies. His experience crosses a range of therapeutic areas, including neurology (Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis), ophthalmology (diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration), respiratory (asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), vaccines (human papillomavirus, respiratory syncytial virus, herpes zoster virus), diabetes, liver diseases (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and chronic hepatitis C), oncology (breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, and leukemia), dermatology (atopic dermatitis and psoriasis), and hematology (iron chelation). He also has experience developing models for medical tests (screening, diagnostic, prognostic, predictive [i.e., companion diagnostic], monitoring, and surveillance) and medical devices in oncology, neurology, and ophthalmology. Prior to joining RTI-HS, he conducted research using dynamic programming and simulation models to study decision making in the areas of hospital management and public health disaster management. He is a member of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research and has presented his work at professional conferences and workshops. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including PharmacoEconomics, Production and Operations Management, OR Spectrum, and IIE Transactions on Health Systems Engineering.
