Explore two different budget impact models programmed in Excel while reviewing the basics of budget impact analysis and the interpretation of results. During this course participants will explore simplicity versus accuracy and face validity, and how budget impact analyses are used by payers and other decision makers.
Technical topics include:
- static versus dynamic budget impact models,
- considerations for device and diagnostic technologies, and
- realistic features such as patient copayments and use of generics.
This ISPOR short course includes hands-on exercises and tools that can be immediately applied, including:
- Programming a static and a dynamic budget impact analysis in Excel and working in teams to enhance these models.
- Building budget impact models using best practices and exploring a number of Excel tips in the build process.
The Excel-based budget impact models used for the course will be provided to participants in advance of the presentation.
PREREQUISITE: Participation in the ISPOR short course, “Budget Impact Analysis I: A 6-Step Approach,” or basic knowledge of budget impact analyses. A primer on the 6-steps is available on December 3.
