Mr. Distler studied economics at the University of Mannheim in Germany and started his career in 1989 at Procter & Gamble as the brand manager of its cough and cold business unit, known under the branding of Vicks. After over a decade of working in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Distler was promoted from his position as the Director of Marketing of Innovex, an affiliate of Quintiles, to Head of Business Development at Quintiles, where he was responsible for all services regarding phase 2 to late-phase trials. Mr. Distler then gained international business development at Quintiles and i3 Research, handling blue chip pharmaceutical and midsize biotech company accounts, and at the Mapi Group, where he was in charge of developing the international late-phase business and setting up the company's presence in Germany. In 2012, he joined IMS Health, where he was responsible for all business development activities for its European health economics and outcomes research team, including data services (e.g., linkage, datamarts, real-world evidence generation and strategy development).
