Dan Mines, MD, MSCE, is a Senior Epidemiology Consultant at RTI-HS and a physician-epidemiologist with more than 20 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry and consulting sector. His work has focused on product safety evaluation, natural history of disease, and clinical epidemiology/real-world evidence.

Dr. Mines previously worked as a Senior Director of Epidemiology at RTI-HS, and he has held leadership positions in the epidemiology organizations of Wyeth/Pfizer, HealthCore, and Merck & Co, supporting products in multiple therapeutic areas in both the preapproval and postapproval settings. His research has involved studies using automated administrative health care data and electronic medical records in the US and Europe, as well as validation studies. He has acquired considerable experience negotiating and conducting post authorization safety studies for regulatory audiences.  Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Mines spent the first decade of his career as a clinician-educator in the University of Pennsylvania health system.

Dr. Mines has served on the ISPE Board of Directors, editorial board of the journal Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, and the scientific advisory board of the Innovation in Medical Evidence Development and Surveillance (IMEDS). He is an adjunct scholar at the Center of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Penn Med and adjunct investigator in its Center for Pharmacoepidemiology Research and Training (CPeRT).
