Phil Schwab, PhD, is a Senior Director in the Surveys and Observational Studies group with RTI-HS. Dr. Schwab has more than 10 years of experience in real-world observational studies applying a variety of methods. Prior to joining RTI-HS, Dr. Schwab was a research lead at a large managed-care company in the United States, designing and implementing exploratory, descriptive, and comparative observational studies of pharmaceuticals and health programs.

His research experience spans several therapeutic areas, including autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, immunological conditions, mental health, oncology and supportive therapies, and renal disease.

Dr. Schwab has published in the American Health & Drug Benefits, BMJ Open Diabetes Research and Care, Clinical Therapeutics, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, Drugs & Aging, International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, and the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy. He has also contributed to poster and podium presentations at a number of conferences.

Dr. Schwab serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy and has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy, Clinical Diabetes, BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, and the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Drugs – Real World Outcomes, and as an abstract reviewer for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and ISPOR conferences.
