Brian Samsell, PhD, is a Manager, Medical Writing at RTI-HS, where he leads a team of medical writers who collaborate with researchers on publication planning, publication development, and project management. He has over 12 years of experience in clinical research and medical writing, including developing study designs, supporting study execution, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, drafting manuscripts, and aligning publication strategies with market and regulatory aims. Key therapeutic areas of expertise include chronic wound healing, tendon repair, bone fusion, device sterilization, and developmental disorders. Key research fields include translational research, clinical research, gap analyses, health economics, and medical devices.

His past experience includes serving as a clinical researcher and scientific writer for a medical device company, where he guided publication strategies and provided research support for regulatory submissions in the US, Canada, the EU and India for multiple product lines across wound repair, bone fusion, and orthopedic areas. A novel cost-analysis approach for wound care developed by Dr. Samsell won an award for the highest scoring abstract in the Health Economics category and was presented at the podium during Spring 2019 SAWC.  He has also co-authored a book chapter on allograft tissue safety and technology in orthopedic surgery.
