Sophie Mayer, PhD, is a Research Epidemiologist in the Pharmacoepidemiology and Risk Management group at RTI-HS. Dr. Mayer has over 5 years of experience designing, conducting, and disseminating pharmacoepidemiology research. Prior to pursuing epidemiology, she was trained in biology and gained experience in drug regulatory policy. As a master’s student, she worked at a cancer research center as an analyst and project coordinator, while conducting research on breast cancer recurrence and drug metabolism. During her PhD, Dr. Mayer received extensive training in epidemiologic methods and pharmacoepidemiology, where she continued to focus on cancer and chronic disease. Her thesis research focused on analytic approaches to handle differential outcome detection during follow-up. She has experience working with Scandinavian registries and healthcare claims and registries in the United States, as well as conducting disease modeling and simulation studies.
