Alan McMichael, PhD, is a Research Economist in Health Preference Assessment at RTI-HS. Dr. McMichael has over 10 years of experience in both academic and public health sector. He holds a degree in Psychology and a doctorate in medicine (Public Health), both from Queen’s University Belfast. His PhD investigated how patients and clinicians trade off the risks and benefits of potential treatment options and how clinicians interpreted patient reported outcome scales. After his doctorate, he spent three years as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Public Health, Queen’s University Belfast were he used bespoke administrative datasets to investigate medication use and predictors of mortality among people with dementia in Northern Ireland.
Dr. McMichael has presented his research at national and international conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals including Medical Decision Making, Value in Health, British Journal of Psychiatry and Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.
